Ex-Millwall midfielder joins League One side

Former Millwall midfielder Ben Thompson has signed for League One side Stevenage for an undisclosed fee.

Thompson was made available for transfer by Peterborough United at the end of last season.

He made 33 appearances in all competitions for Peterborough last season but did not start a league match after the start of December.

The 27-year-old came through the ranks at Millwall and made 175 appearances for his boyhood club, scoring 12 goals.

“I’m looking forward to getting started,” said Thompson upon signing at the Lamex Stadium.

“I’ve played against the Manager’s teams for several years now and I have always liked the way he does things – I’m delighted to get this over the line.”

Former Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has encouraged everyone in the country who can afford to do so to buy a newspaper, and told the Downing Street press briefing: “A free country needs a free press, and the newspapers of our country are under significant financial pressure”.
