Sheffield Wednesday ‘have agreed a deal’ for ex-West Bromwich Albion, Nottingham Forest and Watford man
Dowling was most recently employed by West Bromwich Albion, where he served as sporting and technical director. According to Football Insider, he could be set to arrive at Hillsborough to work under Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri.
Dowling left the Hawthorns in 2021 after three years at the club, during which he was in charge of overseeing football affairs. He counts Watford, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers among some of his other former clubs.
Change is afoot in S6 as Wednesday plan for their return to the Championship. Since sealing promotion to the second tier, they have parted ways with the man who led them out of League One, Darren Moore, and replaced with him former Watford boss Xisco Munoz.
The Owls are currently in Spain as part of their pre-season preparations and most recently suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Eldense.

Last season, Sarmiento made 12 appearances for Brighton and had an impressive run with the Ecuadorian national team at the 2022 World Cup.
He participated in all three of Ecuador’s group stage games, including a 2-0 victory over hosts Qatar and a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands.
Born in Madrid, Sarmiento moved to London in his early childhood and honed his skills at Charlton’s academy.
His talent earned him several call-ups to England’s youth teams before moving to Benfica in 2018.
A 2021 transfer to Brighton quickly led to his first cap for Ecuador, the homeland of his parents.
Demonstrating his skill and versatility on the pitch, Sarmiento won Brighton’s 2021/22 Young Player of the Season award and has since made 13 appearances for the Ecuadorian national team.
West Bromwich Albion’s manager, Carlos Corberán, expressed his delight at the signing, praising Sarmiento’s talent, maturity, and versatility.
He stated, “I am very pleased to have signed a talented player from a Premier League club. He is an exciting player, who has great maturity for someone so young.”
“The fact he has already played in the Premier League and at a World Cup gives me the confidence that he has the personality and desire required to keep developing his skills.”
“He is a versatile attacker who can play on either wing, as well as through the middle as a 10, and his flexibility to play to a high standard in three different positions will be important to us.”
