The midfield Maestro missed the back end of last season through injury but was back to feature heavily in their preseason campaign.
The Star understands the former Swansea City man misses out through a minor muscle injury and that he misses out as a precaution.
In his absence Wednesday have named a midfield three of Will Vaulks, Tyreeq Bakinson and Barry Bannan.
Byers played 29 matches across all competitions last season, scoring six times and bagging three assists.
In a recent report, Sky Sports mentioned that Everton are hoping to sign Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana this summer. It has been stated that the Toffees are eager to snap the Ghanaian wide player in this ongoing transfer window.
Sulemana had a difficult season at Southampton after joining from Rennes in January. The 21-year-old made 18 appearances for the Saints in the previous campaign, scoring two goals and earning one assist in all competitions. However, his contributions were not enough for Southampton to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The Techiman-born talent was a consistent performer in the final third as he averaged 1.3 shots, 0.8 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He even distributed the ball relatively well in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 76.2% in Premier League football (stats via whoscored).
Sulemana is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the eye to play a few killer passes in the final third and can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range.
Sulemana is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger or as a centre-forward if asked to do so by his manager. However, the Ghana international has to find a way to improve his productivity in front of the opponent’s goal.
We can expect Sulemana to bring more firepower to Everton boss Sean Dyche‘s attack. He might even help the Toffees avoid getting into a relegation dogfight in the Premier League next season. The Ghana talent knows the Premier League well by now and won’t take any time to settle into life in England.
At 21, Sulemana will only get better in the coming years. Hence, it makes sense for the Merseyside club to go all out to snap the Southampton prospect up before the end of this transfer window.
