Club Increasingly Likely To Sign Leeds United Star

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams is increasingly likely to join Chelsea, with the Blues stepping up their interest in him, according to The Athletic.

Adams has a relegation release clause contained in his contract at Elland Road and has been widely expected to depart Leeds at some point this summer.

Though the American midfielder was unable to help Leeds avoid relegation from the Premier League, his stock has remained high.

Now Chelsea are stepping up their interest in Adams and it is claimed to be increasingly likely he will move to the capital.

Adams has also been linked with other Premier League sides, but it appears Chelsea will win the race.

The Blues are looking for midfield reinforcements and see United States international Adams as a good signing.

Leeds signed Ethan Ampadu earlier this summer and it remains to be seen if he is viewed as the replacement for Adams, or whether the Whites go back into the transfer market.

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams is becoming increasingly likely of moving to Chelsea this week as the Blues aim to strengthen their midfield.

The Whites are one game into their Championship campaign, drawing 2-2 with Cardiff City after coming back from two goals down on Sunday.

It was a first chance to see a new look midfield with both Archie Gray and Ethan Ampadu making their debuts, as Tyler Adams watched on from the stands.

With the USMNT captain sitting out injured, we may have already seen the midfielder’s last match in a Leeds shirt, with The Athletic’s Phil Hay revealing that Chelsea are set to step up their interest in the midfielder this week.

Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add to his midfield, and Adams appears to be their top candidate after previously reported interest in Moises Caicedo fell somewhat by the wayside, even though they are expected to bid again soon.

Hay reveals that an exit is now expected for Adams this week, and the fee paid by the Blues will be set by the midfielder’s relegation release clause.

Leeds stand to bring in £20million if they lose Adams in the coming days of August, having paid that much for him just over a year ago from RB Leipzig.

Adams to Chelsea is an interesting one because they could have easily just put some trust into Ampadu, but instead they have sold him to us for less than half of the price they will pay for Adams.

He’s a good Premier League player and will provide great protection to the defence under Poch, but you have to wonder if he has the progression to cope with playing for a big six side.

For Leeds, though, this should be our chance to reinvest significantly, because the draw against Cardiff highlighted around five areas that we need signings in desperately.

Leeds United man Adams is among the numerous players to have been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road this summer. The Whites have seen some influential names move on following their relegation but as of yet, American international Adams remains on the books.

Though the American midfielder was unable to help Leeds avoid relegation from the Premier League, his stock has remained high.

There have been rumours that Chelsea are looking at Adams alongside their pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo and now, fresh claims have emerged from The Athletic.

24-year-old Adams has a release clause of around £20m in his Leeds United contract and given the Stamford Bridge outfit’s deep pockets, you wouldn’t think that fee will present many problems as they look at recruiting the midfielder this summer.

Adams cut a popular figure for his committed performances during their struggles last season. He stood out in a poor Leeds United side and while there would have been hope that he would stay onboard, he’s certainly a player who can ply his trade at a higher level than the Championship.

A move to Chelsea will certainly be an eye-catching one while leaving Leeds in need of another midfielder.

The Whites’ midfield ranks are already pretty depleted and losing Adams should prompt them to move for another one. Time will tell just how his situation pans out this week but given Chelsea’s riches and the release clause in Adams’ contract, this certainly seems like a deal that could be done pretty smoothly.
