Ex-Luton Town midfielder Casey Pettit looking forward to ‘new chapter’ at Maidenhead United

Maidenhead United’s latest signing Casey Pettit is looking forward to a ‘new chapter’ in his career after leaving Luton Town earlier this summer.

Pettit becomes the Magpies’ seventh signing of the summer and was named as a substitute for Saturday’s 2-2 draw with AFC Fylde.

United are in the process of rebuilding their squad after another close season with much upheaval. 11 players have departed following last season’s brush with relegation, while seven have now arrived creating what Alan Devonshire hopes will be a smaller, but stronger squad.

After the deal was announced on Friday, Pettit, tweeted: “New chapter. Delighted to sign for Maidenhead United. Let’s kick on.”

Earlier this summer he said he was looking forward to ‘new challenges’ after departing Luton following four years as a Hatter. He joined the club’s academy as a 16-year-old from West Ham United and was named as a substitute for the first team in the Championship.

While at Luton, Pettit also joined Lewes FC on loan.

He links up with fellow ex-Hatters Sam Beckwith and Kane Ferdinand in the Maidenhead squad.

Two of his former Luton clubmates are Gabriel Osho and Elijah Adebayo, who have spent time on loan at Maidenhead United and Slough Town respectively.

Reflecting on his departure from Kenilworth Road earlier this summer, Pettit said on Instagram: “Unfortunately my time at Luton has come to an end.

“I have loved my four years of being here and I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the staff and players for everything they’ve done throughout my time of being a Hatter.

“Thanks to my sponsors who have also been there and supported me from the start, I appreciate you all.

“And thank you to all the fans as well!

“I wanted to wish the football club all the best this season in the Premier League, the boys deserve every bit of success they get!
