Club turn down another Aston Villa offer for player – Monchi trying to follow their instructions
Sevilla have rejected the latest offer from Aston Villa for Marcos Acuña, with the Spanish side still not keen on the sale.
That’s according to El Chiringuito and journalist Gonzalo Tortosa, who says Sevilla have rejected an offer worth €10m for the full-back.
Villa have pushed to sign the Argentine this week as they continue to rebuild Unai Emery’s squad for this season.
An initial bid, which was deemed extremely low and almost insulting, was rejected by Sevilla but that has not put off Aston Villa and they continue to try and get the player.
According to Tortosa, their latest bid was worth €10m, made up of a base bid of €7m plus €3m in bonuses. This offer was sent by director of football Monchi on the 13th of this month.
The Spanish club had asked that any bid for the player be made before the 20th, hence the push from Villa and Monchi now as they try to comply with those demands.
Acuña, for his part, is open to the move and positive about it but nothing has been closed with him and won’t be until an agreement is reached between the clubs.
There are now ‘ongoing negotiations’ between them to make that happen, with Aston Villa already seeing bids rejected.

Aston Villa want to snap up Sevilla ace Marcos Acuna just hours after praise from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
Marcos Acuna has been hailed by Manchester City as a move to Aston Villa seemingly draws closer and closer.
Villa have been busy this summer having snapped up the likes of Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans and Moussa Diaby but Unai Emery wants more.
A left back is now on the radar with Alex Moreno injured and Lucas Digne is wanted in Saudi Arabia according to The Telegraph.
Emery’s top target is Argentinian star Marcos Acuna, who has racked up more than 120 appearances for Sevilla but never crossed paths with Emery there.
The 31-year-old was a winger in his days at Racing Club but has since become a left back or even midfielder, offering versatility to Emery if Villa get a deal done.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Villa want to get a deal for Acuna sealed today with talks set to be ramped up in the coming hours.
Acuna has already agreed personal terms with Villa and the hope is that a deal will be in place by the end of the day.
Acuna started for Sevilla on Wednesday night as they faced Manchester City in the European Super Cup final.
City ended up winning on penalties, meaning Acuna may have played his final game for Sevilla and could go out on a defeat.
Acuna lined up at left back in a back four for Sevilla, which may well be the role Emery has in mind for him at Villa.
Some Villa fans may not be too excited about Acuna given that he is into his 30’s but one man who seems to be a pretty big fan is Pep Guardiola.
City boss Guardiola saw Acuna in action last night and praised the former Sporting man ahead of his seemingly imminent move to Villa.
Guardiola told TNT Sports that he loved the performance of City winger Cole Palmer having come up against a truly ‘top defender’ in Acuna.
“He has a character,” said Guardiola on Palmer. “It’s not easy to play against defenders like [Marcos] Acuna, for example, who is a top defender,” he added.
Acuna has Guardiola’s seal of approval, with Villa hoping to get him wrapped up as a new signing alongside Nicolo Zaniolo.
