Leeds United turn attention to EFL striker, Daniel Farke favourite described as “unbelievable”

Leeds are going to have to get into gear with new signings very soon as the squad Daniel Farke is working with seems to shrink by the week due to injuries and exits.

More money is going to be available as Tyler Adams leaves the club for Bournemouth, and it needs to be invested across a host of positions.

Football Insider are reporting that Leeds are interested in signing Norwich City striker Josh Sargent before the transfer window shuts:

“Sargent, 23, features on that list and could be the subject of a bid from the relegated side in the coming days.”

The Canaries striker netted 13 goals and registered two assists last season, and is already off the mark for this campaign.

It’s fairly obvious why Leeds might want to sign the USMNT striker, given that he was signed by Norwich in 21/22, with Farke at the helm at Carrow Road.

The German brought Sargent to England, and rates the striker highly, as he had this to say to him following their meeting with Brighton in October ’21 (via Norfolk Live):

“I have to say first of all that Josh [Sargent] had an outstanding performance.

“His workload was unbelievable both with and against the ball. He was able to keep the ball in the pocket and also against a difficult back three of Brighton.

“He was able to initiate so many good situations and brought himself into good positions as well. I think he played excellent today with Teemu Pukki.”

Sargent might end up falling into the category of someone like Patrick Bamford, whose hard work takes precedent over his ability in front of goal.

However, Sargent was clinical last season despite the overall lack of chances he got, scoring 13 from an xG score of 11.5 (per FBref).

How much he costs might play a significant part in whether we’re interested in Sargent heavily, but with Max Aarons leaving Norwich, they’re clearly open to major sales.

According to The Daily Mail, Leeds United want to sign Josh Sargent from Championship rivals Norwich City in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Leeds are considering a bid for the 23-year-old USA international striker.

The striker joined the Canaries from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2021.

Farke raved about Sargent on Norwich’s official website at the time: “Josh has a lot of experience in the top level in the Bundesliga in Germany and has been there with many goals and assists. He has also scored goals for his national team.

“He’s a very good striking option for us but is someone who can also play on the wing.

“He has pace and is also good with his head. We know he is always there with a big workload and has a fantastic character.”

Leeds need to sign an experienced and quality striker if they are to finish in the top two of the Championship this season.

Patrick Bamford has had injury problems for a while now, and Georginio Rutter has also struggled with fitness issues.

Leeds need to bring in a striker who can hit the ground running and bang in the goals for fun.

We believe that Sargent would be a good signing for the Whites.

The 23-year-old has scored two goals and given one assist in three Championship matches for Norwich already this season.

The USA international striker scored 13 goals and provided two assists in 37 Championship starts for Norwich last season.

Leeds have made a disappointing start to the Championship season.

The West Yorkshire club have picked up two points from three matches and have scored three goals.
