Ipswich: Former Luna Bar sells before auction in town

A former bar and lounge a short walk from Ipswich town centre has been sold prior to it going under the hammer for an undisclosed amount.

The former Luna Bar and Lounge in Falcon Street, which has been unused since March 2020, was due to go to auction on July 26 through Auction House, an East Anglian-based company.

Signs have appeared outside the building saying it has now been sold, with a guide price of £150,000.

Planning permission has been granted on the building for the first floor to be converted into a one-person residential apartment, while the ground floor use remains the same, as a food and drink establishment.

The planning permission was granted by Ipswich Borough Council back in February.

Luna was a Caribbean-inspired lounge of around 110 square metres that sold themed food and drinks, and was very colourfully painted inside as a result.

The property has also served as a nail salon over the years.

The price that the building has been sold for has not been revealed.

And Gareth Ainsworth’s side gave a decent account of themselves, but a goal from Conor Chaplin in the 75th minute saw Ipswich claim the win and maintain their perfect start to the 2023/24 campaign.

After the match, QPR defender Morgan Fox took to Twitter with this message for the fans:

Fox joined QPR on a free transfer in the summer following his release from Stoke City. He’s since become a regular starter for Ainsworth, playing in the middle of defence amid injuries to the likes of Jimmy Dunne and Jake Clarke-Salter.

QPR have lost three of their opening four league games of the season now, losing their last two by 1-0 scorelines with their only win of the season so far coming away at Cardiff City earlier in the month.

That win at Cardiff really gave QPR a lift. But back-to-back defeats since, and both without scoring, highlights the struggles that QPR are facing this season.
