Elliot Lee announces new role as charity ambassador
Elliot Lee, Wrexham AFC midfielder, has just announced his new role as an ambassador for the charity ‘Dom’s FOOD mission.’
The charity, founded by Dom Warren in 2015, aims to stop surplus foods from hitting landfill and feed the less fortunate.
Elliot posted the announcement on Twitter and said: “I am very proud and excited to become an ambassador for the charity.
“Helping to raise awareness and support their movement within football called ‘Boot Hunger Out’.
“Together, we will help to feed as many people as possible, especially children, all through the beautiful game.”
The charity is environmentally friendly and supports the community by supplying in-date food to those facing food insecurity, distributing 4,500 meals a week.
In the last two years, Dom’s Mission has prevented 200 metric tons of food from going to landfill, instead redirecting it to within the local community, equating to 500,000 meals.
AFC fans are thrilled about the collaboration. Annette Gardner on Twitter said: “Wonderful cause. Between this and the foodbank initiatives, hopefully no one in Wrexham goes hungry.”
While another fan said: “Fantastic use of the spotlight, Elliot.”

Promoted as National League champions to secure a return to the Football League following a 15-year absence, the Reds were beaten 5-3 at home by MK Dons on the opening day and then overcome Wigan Athletic on a penalty shoot-out in the Carabao Cup first round before Saturday’s 1-1 draw at AFC Wimbledon.
Parkinson has seen an improvement since the MK Dons defeat and was delighted with the display against Walsall where goals from Will Boyle, Ollie Palmer, Jake Bickerstaff and Elliot Lee got Wrexham off the mark.
“I am very pleased, I thought it was a very good performance from us,” said Parkinson.
“Disappointed to concede that goal in the last few minutes, it was a bit slack and the game is never over till the end as we all know, but I don’t want that to take the gloss off the performance.
“We controlled long periods of the game, the passing was crisp, the movement was good and we had a nice balance about us.
“I felt it was a night where a lot of our key players stood up to the plate.
“There are players coming back into form or finding their way into the division. It is hard to single anybody out because everybody made a significant contribution.
“Obviously we had a bad start at home, we haven’t had too many indifferent games here at The Racecourse but it was important we stood up as a team and as a group, the supporters did as well and we got that first win of the season.
“Of course, 4-0 or 4-1 would have been better but the most important thing was the points.”
Wrexham were unbeaten at The STóK Cae Ras last season and Parkinson is pleased with the response since the opening day loss against MK Dons.
“I think we have recovered really well from that game,” he said.
“It shows the kind of depth of character and mentality in the group but also the support we have in the ground.
“We haven’t had many bad days here at the office but when you do, you have got to recover and I am really pleased with how we have recovered from that defeat in the last three performances.”
But Parkinson is not getting carried away after getting the first league win.
“We have got work to do in the transfer market and we have got work to do as a team,” he added.
“There are still players I feel – not the ones out there against Walsall – but others who are still finding their feet in the division, but all in all it’s a really good night’s work.
“We showed that when we concentrate on the performance and how we can play, we are a decent side, but we have got work to do.”
