JUST lN:Everton make ambitious offer for West Ham linked Man Utd flop Ten Hag wants to get rid of

Everton have seen an ambitious loan offer rejected for exit-linked Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire, according to reports

Harry Maguire's potential destinations as Man Utd plan summer exit

Maguire was relinquished of the

captaincy last month, with Erik ten Hag happy to offload him before the transfer window closes.

The likes of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are all ahead of the England international in the pecking order at the moment.

With that in mind, a move away from Man Utd is probably the best thing for Maguire. West Ham have long been considered to be the favourites to sign him. Reports suggested that they pulled out of the race for the defender, but they have reopened talks with Man Utd on Sunday.

That has not deterred Everton, though, who have made their own attempt to lure the 30-year-old away from Old Trafford.

The Toffees have lost all three of their Premier League fixtures so far, conceding six goals in the process. They do not have a lot of money to spend, but it’s thought that Sean Dyche wants to bring in a new centre-back.

Now, according to transfer journalist Alan Nixon of the Sun, Everton have made an offer to take Maguire on loan for the season

The Merseyside club are said to be willing to pay £50,000 per week of Maguire’s wage bill. His full weekly wage is thought to be closer to four times that amount, causing issues for any club that wants to sign him.

Man Utd have rejected Everton’s approach, however, as they want to sell him permanently.

Nixon claims that West Ham are now poised to make their own loan offer for Maguire, but they are willing to pay a bigger chunk of his wages than Everton are.

Whether or not Man Utd will agree to send him out on loan remains to be seen – but it’s certainly not their preference.

Everton will now have to look for other options to bolster their defence. Otherwise, Dyche will have to rely on Michael Keane, James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite and Ben Godfrey as his centre-back options as he aims to avoid relegation again.
