Shrewsbury Town sign Kieran Phillips on loan from Huddersfield
Dynamic’ forward Kieran Phillips will give Shrewsbury Town something different according to head coach Matt Taylor.
The youngster has joined Salop on a season-long loan deal from Championship club Huddersfield.
“I have worked with him before, I liked him then but he is a different player now,” Taylor said about his new signing.
“I took him on loan at Walsall for six months, and there was a lot of competition for his signature.
“My relationship with him, not as a player or a coach, but as people and as a person I really liked working with him.
“He will give us a different dynamic up front. He will score goals.
“He scored a lot of goals at this level last year before he picked up an injury.
“So I am really excited to work with him and he already knows a lot of the players in the building as he was with Morgan Feeney and Joe Anderson at Everton.
“Kieran and I have been speaking for probably the last six weeks, he was wanted by teams who are higher in the league than we are.
“While I don’t believe it, some would argue they are ‘so-called bigger clubs’ and the fact that he has come here I am over the moon.
“The fans will be excited by him, he will play on the shoulder, he will finish with technique and score different types of goals. He is a really good signing for us at this football club.” Phillips made 20 appearances for Morecambe last season scoring seven goals.

Since they formed, the women’s team have operated under the guidance of the Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation, the charity branch of Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
That partnership has been a successful one with the team winning promotion from the West Midlands Regional Women’s League Division 1 without losing a single league game.
They also secured a historic cup double last year that saw the team lift both the West Midlands Regional Women’s Premier Division League Cup and the Shropshire County Cup.
The team, though, has no plans to stop there with their goal to become the first semi-professional team in Shropshire.
To achieve that aim they have now moved away from the Shrewsbury Town Foundation to a new ownership model led by Leanne Rimmer, Brogan Cook and Chloe Hudson-Jones.
And as a club, we are honoured to now support Shrewsbury Town Women’s website in place of the foundation.
Shrewsbury Town Women now has their own microsite within Shrewsbury Town’s website that can be accessed HERE or via the link above or by clicking the ‘Shrewsbury Town Women’ tab in the site navigation bar at the top of every page on Shrewsbury Town’s website.
Fans will be able to view the latest Shrewsbury Town Women news and can use the ‘News Archive’ to see older stories.
The ‘Matches’ tab will direct you to the fixtures and results as well as the current league table.
You can see the team and find out the latest ticket information via the respective tabs in the Shrewsbury Town Women navigation bar, as well as download the latest interactive Shrews Women matchday programme for free!
Additionally, fans can vote for their ‘Player of the Match’ after each game, with the poll closing at midnight the day after the fixture has taken place. All results will be announced on Shrewsbury Town Women’s social media.
The current Shrewsbury Town Women page on the Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation page will be closed down so this new microsite and Shrewsbury Town Women’s social media pages will be the only places to find relevant content.
