SMART MOVE;Swindon Town Manager Speaks On Future Of Star Loanees

The pair of loanees are both on loan from fellow League Two clubs, with fans already worried about the possibility of the attacking partners being recalled after their red-hot start.

Familiar with the situation after former Robins’ Jerry Yates, Eoin Doyle and Tyreece Simpson all suffered recalls from their loans following successful starts to the seasons, Flynn has “good faith” that both players will be with Swindon for the duration of the season.

Red Hot Start

After a disappointing 12 months which saw two permanent managers depart, the Robins have begun their campaign to the new season undefeated. With two wins and two draws under their belt, Swindon has the most goals for and the best goal difference in the league despite having a game in hand on 22 teams.

With Young on loan from Bradford City and Kemp arriving from MK Dons, both players have been major contributors to Swindon’s successful start. Bradford and MK will both be hoping for seasons that would see them gain promotion, so if either player is still performing near the top of the league, there is a legitimate possibility they return to their parent club during the January transfer window.

“I can’t give any assurances to the fans because it’s out of our hands. We did what we could to get the players in (permanently) in the first instance.

“They are both on season-long loans. There is a small break clause in both, but it is only a small one.

“Now, unless they’re going to go back and play at their clubs or somebody puts in a ridiculous offer for one of them that the other club can’t turn down, I’d like to think – in good faith – that they’ll be here for the duration of the season.

“We’ve tried to sign Dan Kemp on a permanent basis, but Milton Keynes Dons hold the cards there.

“Jake is a player I like. I’ve got a good relationship with Ryan Sparks at Bradford City, and it was us two who connected and got the deal over the line. They like Jake there, but they just wanted him to play regular football. They felt that he would have an opportunity to do that with us having a small squad.

“I really don’t know (how likely it is they sign permanently). It’s going to be a bit more difficult with Jake, especially if he keeps scoring like this.”

While it’s still very early into the season and a lot will happen before the time comes when Bradford or MK could recall either player, personally, it seems like that could be the case if they keep it up. The fact both teams were reluctant to let Young and Kemp leave permanently this summer, means they are going to be even stricter come the next transfer window.

However, with it still so early in the season, let’s see how everything plans out and at least enjoy their brilliance while they are Swindon players.
