Wrexham coach Phil Parkinson praises his team’s strong spirit

The Reds, returning to the Football League after a 15-year absence, have picked up six points from their opening five games and are 16th in the table.
What follows is tomorrow’s clash with close neighbors Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park and Parkinson believes Wrexham is on the right track.

Obstacles have hindered Wrexham’s progress but the Reds boss said he has complete confidence in his players.
“I feel like we’re getting there,” he said.
“We started a bit slow, we had goalkeeper situations and had a few injuries, obviously Paul Mullin, James McClean and Aaron Hayden, but I feel the team looks stronger every day.

“I am looking forward to mounting a real challenge and I am confident this group of players, not just ability-wise but as a group in general, is strong in terms of mentality.
“That can take you a long way and it has done over the last couple of years.
“We will look forward to going to Tranmere which will be a terrific atmosphere.
Wrexham go into the game on the back of Tuesday’s 4-3 penalty shoot-out defeat to Bradford City in the Carabao Cup second round but Parkinson was pleased with the performance, with the Reds responding well to an early set-back when the Bantams were awarded a controversial penalty after just 90 seconds.
“We would love to have got through and we are disappointed we didn’t,” added Parkinson, who saw Will Boyle level in the second half to earn a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
“It is always tough to go out on penalties but I have no complaints with the way the lads played, we played really well.
“The other day this performance proves three or four goals but it’s a good step forward for us in terms of performance and we are going to Tranmere in good condition.
