Martial Godo admits the opportunity to play for such a ‘historic club’ at a ‘beautiful stadium’ made his decision to join Wigan Athletic on loan from Fulham with ease.
The Dartford-born 20-year-old has become Shaun Maloney’s 10th signing.

Godo has outstanding acceleration and can operate on both wings – qualities Maloney has needed since he took over earlier this year.
And the man himself could join as early as this weekend, having signed in time to join the rest of the squad to Blackpool on Saturday.
“I was really overwhelmed and excited to get started,” he said.

“Wigan has a great stadium and the size of the club makes me want to join.
“I am ready to work hard and help the team as much as I can.

Godo joined the Cottagers from Margate in March 2022 and made his first-team debut in a 0-2 Carabao Cup loss to Crawley five months later.
He has become a standout player for the Fulham Under-23s, scoring nine goals in 35 appearances last season and five in three this season.
And having just signed a new contract with Fulham, Godo is hoping to use his time with the Latics – where he will wear the number 17 shirt – to gain experience in the first team.
