After being sent off against Liverpool, it was feared Carlos would pick up another injury.
According to Emery, Carlos’ injury was not significant and the media paid attention to the defender’s immediate reaction.
Since leaving Sevilla for Aston Villa last summer, Diego Carlos has been really unlucky with a long-term injury at the start of last season against Everton.
Returning from injury with a new season underway and Unai Emery technically, Carlos is finally ready to try his luck at Villa Park, featuring in all four Premier League games.
The last thing the defender wants now is to be sidelined for some more time, but that could be precisely after being sent off against Liverpool.
Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell has spotted a worrying sign that the defender has picked up another injury.
What did Carlos do after the injury?
After Carlos was sent off in Aston Villa’s disappointing 0-3 loss to Liverpool at Anfield, Tanswell took to Twitter to reveal what he saw on the visitors’ bench:
“Diego Carlos just sat on the bench.
Still in his full lame suit.
”
Of course, another defender injury is the last thing Emery needs, as Tyrone Mings has been sidelined for an extended period following a serious knee injury.
The Brazilian’s return to the bench instead of staying in the dressing room for treatment might be a good sign, but his apparent limp certainly isn’t.
To solve this problem, the Midlands club loaned Clement Lenglet at the end of the summer transfer window, but the Barcelona player could not make up for the two absences.
It seems Villa fans can hope for the best as Emery commented on Carlos’ injury after the game, speaking via Tanswell:
“Diego Carlos’ injury (which frustrates him the most.
) It wasn’t a big injury but it changed our game plan.
“
It is hoped that the upcoming international break will give the former Sevilla midfielder a chance to recover in time for Villa’s next Premier League game, where they will face Crystal Palace.
How has Diego Carlos behaved this season?
Returning from a long hiatus, Carlos came on with Pau Torres and Ezri Konsa in a mixed start to the season for those at Aston Villa.
