Fulham manager Marco Silva has turned down the chance to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea this summer.
This is information reported by The Athletic.
They report that manager Fulham has decided he does not want to bring Callum Hudson-Odoi to Craven Cottage during the summer transfer window.
In the end, Chelsea got rid of the 22-year-old striker and sold him to Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest.
Forest ended up paying £5m (Evening Standard) to sign Hudson-Odoi, which could be a bargain if he can return to pre-injury form.
We think Hudson-Odoi could be a good fit for Fulham’s current squad.
However, Silva clearly does not share the same views and he is the most important person on the coaching staff.
Chelsea fans will now be watching how Hudson-Odoi’s career at Forest unfolds from afar.
The Evening Standard reported last month that Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino never even spoke to Hudson-Odoi during the summer.
Therefore, it looks like the writing is still on the wall as he enters the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
It looks like the speedy winger needs a fresh start in his career to get back on track.
At 22, Hudson-Odoi fits the type of player Chelsea have signed for this boss.
He is also a product of the Cobham Blues academy.
However, he has come a long way since suffering a serious injury a few years ago and now has to rebuild from scratch in the Forest shirt.

Bayern eventually reached out to Fulham ace Palhinha, struggling to secure a late deal for the Portugal international.
Palhinha has traveled to Munich for a medical after the two clubs reached a £65m deal.
The deal failed because Fulham could not find a replacement, although no one knew how hard they really tried.
Oddly enough, it was reported that United also watched Palhinha with real fans at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag is said to have been impressed with Palhinha against United last season and wants to lure him to Manchester.
Palhinha even wanted to join United, but Amrabat took precedence and ultimately fit Ten Hag’s budget a bit better.
At least United won’t have to face Palhinha in the Champions League
Palhinha could be an impressive signing for United based on his stellar performances for Fulham.
Hailed by pundit Danny Murphy as “absolutely phenomenal”, Palhinha has been a defensive powerhouse under Marco Silva and will help fill some gaps in United’s midfield.
That move never really worked out, but at least United will be happy that Palhinha is no match in the Champions League this season.
Bayern and United will face each other twice in the group stage of the Champions League this season and will be desperate for the top of the group.
Palhinha could have been a key factor in that equation, but Bayern missed out, leaving United much more relieved.
