Latest Leicester City transfer news as new Foxes signing reflects on summer departure from Spurs

New Leicester City signing Harry Winks says he is “excited for the challenges ahead” as he penned an emotional farewell to Tottenham Hotspur.

The midfielder’s arrival was announced on Saturday as he became Foxes manager Enzo Maresca’s first signing of the summer. He has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the King Power Stadium, in a deal said to be worth £10 million.

Winks came up through the ranks at Spurs, although he spent last season on loan at Serie A side Sampdoria. While looking forward to his “next chapter” he has also spoken about leaving his boyhood club.

He wrote on Instagram: “Joining my boyhood club at the age of 5, it was always my dream to wear the Spurs shirt just once. 203 appearances, Champions League final and so many amazing memories later I can hand on heart say I have achieved the things the 5 year old me could only have ever dreamt about.

“Now it is time for the next chapter and I am excited for the challenges ahead. I’d like to thank everyone at the club for everything they’ve done for me but most of all I want to thank the fans for the love and support over the last 21 years.”

The 27-year-old has already said he is eager to get going with City. He will start pre-season training with his new teammates on Monday.

“I’m really excited for the challenge ahead,” he told LCFC TV after putting pen to paper. “It’s an amazing club with great history and the facilities are incredible. I’m just so happy to be here and ready to get going.
