Confirmed:
Ipswich Town beat the LaLiga club when the former Man Utd player was sacked by Erik ten Hag
The 25-year-old left Man Utd after his contract expired in June, following Erik ten Hag’s decision not to renew his contract. This created an opportunity for Ipswich to sign him on a free transfer.
Tuanzebe graduated from the Man Utd academy after playing in youth teams. He was always touted as a future star, winning the Young Player of the Year and Reserve Player of the Year awards during his time at the club.
This midfielder has a total of 37 appearances for the Red Devils. He was also a member of the Man Utd team that won the Europa League in 2017, but spent most of his time playing elsewhere.
Three loan spells at Aston Villa resulted in around 46 games, while Tuanzebe also had spells playing for Italian giants Napoli and Stoke City.
Several clubs have considered recruiting Tuanzebe. As TEAMtalk reports, Sheffield United are interested in the defender, as are La Liga club Real Betis.
However, Tuanzebe has now completed his move to Ipswich and coach Kieran McKenna – former assistant manager of Man Utd – is hoping he can help his team secure consecutive promotions. Ipswich confirmed Tuanzebe’s arrival at the club with a statement on their official website. They say the defender has signed a one-year contract and the Tractor Boys have the option to extend it for another year.
Tuanzebe becomes Ipswich’s seventh signing following promotion to the Championship and will wear the number 40 shirt.
Ipswich started the season well, winning 4 and losing 1 of their opening 5 matches. They are currently second in the table, one point behind leaders Preston North End. Tuanzebe said he can’t wait to get started and explained why he decided to move to Portman Road Stadium.
“I chatted to the manager earlier this summer, I’ve worked with him before and it was great to see a familiar face. Knowing the caliber of his coach, coming here was the right decision because I know his standards and how thorough he is.
“The stadium, pitch and training ground are all top class and the team are humble, willing to work and everyone wants to take the club to a better position.

The centre-back is a free agent this summer since leaving Manchester United in the summer and he has been linked with multiple clubs during this period. More recently, Real Betis were said to be monitoring the 25-year-old, but Ipswich have been in talks with Tuanzebe for some time and they announced his arrival on their official website on Friday night .
This would give the defender the opportunity to reunite with McKenna, who was Tuanzebe’s coach at Old Trafford during his academy days.
And speaking to the club’s media, Tuanzebe explained that the Ipswich chief’s influence was key to his decision to move to Suffolk.
“It’s great to finally get the deal done. I chatted with the manager earlier this summer, I’ve worked with him before and it was great to see a familiar face. Knowing the caliber of his coach, coming here was the right decision because I know his standards and how thorough he is.
This appears to be exceptional business for Ipswich as they have signed someone capable of playing at Championship level.
Perhaps the biggest question mark concerns Tuanzebe’s fitness as he was unlucky due to injuries in the past. However,
