It looks like Ashley Phillips is going from strength to strength at the moment, with the young Tottenham defender not only looking ready to force his way into Ange Postecoglou’s plans but has also just scored his first goal at Under-19 international level.
Signed from Blackburn Rovers in the summer in a £2m deal (BBC), Ashley Phillips is seen as a player Spurs will develop for the future.
At just 18 years old and with only 14 appearances for the first team (Transfermarkt), no one is sure that Phillips will have the opportunity to compete for a starting spot in the Tottenham first team this season.

Spurs web opinion
I can’t wait to see Ashley Phillips get his chance with the Spurs first team and I think it will happen soon.
Eric Dier is clearly not in Postecoglou’s plans, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Phillips is now almost above him in the rankings.
