At just 18 years old and with only 14 appearances for the first team (Transfermarkt), no one is sure that Phillips will have the opportunity to compete for a starting spot in the Tottenham first team this season.
The player himself also stated on the club’s website that he hopes to join Ange Postecoglou’s first team this year.
And as expected, Phillips sat on the bench in the recent win over Burnley in the Premier League.

I can’t wait to see Ashley Phillips get his chance with the Spurs first team and I think it will happen soon.
Eric Dier is clearly not in Postecoglou’s plans, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Phillips is now almost above him in the rankings.
