Report: Leicester now really want to sign 20 y/o City gem, Palmer said he’ll be ‘world-class’
It has been reported that Leicester City are keen on wrapping up a transfer for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.
This comes from the Sun, after it was claimed just five days ago that Enzo Maresca’s side were interested in signing Zack Steffen.
Now, Leicester City also seem to be intrigued by the prospect of James Trafford playing his football at the King Power Stadium next season.
Leicester interested in James Trafford transfer
The 20-year-old, who Cole Palmer backs to become world-class (via Manchester Evening News) one day has been brilliant during his back-to-back loan stints at Bolton Wanderers.
While Trafford penned a new contract in July last year, he recently admitted that he plans to get regular playing time under his belt in the following campaign, while hinting that he could even leave City in the future to become a No.1 at another top club.
Now, it has been claimed that Leicester are interested in signing James Trafford from Manchester City.
To add to that, the Foxes has been ‘impressed’ by the youngster’s tremendous progress during his short spell at the senior level.
However, the report does emphasise that while City aim to send him on loan, it remains unknown whether the now-Championship side intend to sign any goalkeeper on a temporary or permanent basis.
Manchester City should send the youngster on loan
With how much potential James Trafford has, Manchester City would be well-advised to send him on loan to Leicester rather than sanctioning a permanent move.
While Ederson is only just 29 years of age and is entering his prime, it helps to have a future superstar on one’s books that could be ready to take the club legend’s place in the near future.
Trafford, alongside being a terrific shotstopper is known to be crisp with the ball at his feet, which makes him ideal to man the net for the treble-winners one day.

Danny Walker is a young, up-and-coming coach who was assistant to Maresca at Manchester City under-21s. He was there a short while before Maresca, but the duo worked together well and their team won Premier League 2 in record-breaking fashion.
In January 2023, Walker left Man City manage the under-21s at Peterborough United. After a short spell there, he now reunites with Maresca as first team coach on Filbert Way.
Walker brings with him important experienceof English football, as well as knowing what it takes to work with Maresca successfully. At Manchester City, he worked his way through the academy, working with most age groups from under-9s through to the under-23s.
New goalkeeping coach Michele De Bernardin is known to Maresca through their time together at Serie B club Parma in 2021.
De Bernardin does not appear to have a playing history, but is already an experienced goalkeeping coach at the age of 45. He joins City from Serie A club Sampdoria, and has also worked for Parma as well as Italian lower league clubs Pordenone, Mantova 1911 and LR Vicenza.
He replaces former City goalkeeping coach Mike Stowell, who left the club this week after 18 years at the football club. He joined as a goalkeeping coach under Craig Levein in 2005 and, barring a two-month spell in 2007, had been an ever-present member of the first team coaching staff.

The 52-year-old Spaniard is highly experienced, having worked for Sevilla, Tottenham, Real Madrid and a host of other clubs, including Maresca’s Parma back in 2021.
He started out at Sevilla back in 2005, so brings with him a wealth of experience that will benefit Maresca’s squad as they face a heavy fixture schedule en route back to the Premier League.
