‘Too risky’ – Ipswich Town star had a hamstring problem while on international duty
Ipswich Town man Burns has been a mainstay for Kieran McKenna since the start of the season, starting all five games as the Tractor Boys claimed 12 points from a possible 15.
He also retained his place in Rob Page’s Wales squad for the final international round, but after coming off the bench against South Korea last week, it was reported that This 28-year-old player will not be able to play in the match against Latvia. .
Speaking to the press (quote via TWTD), Page revealed that Burns had a hamstring problem, meaning he was left behind while the rest of the team flew to Riga.
Here’s what he had to say about it:
“Wes came in and he tore his hamstring.
We have a duty of care to the player as well as the club, so I think bringing him in is too risky. He has torn his hamstring, so it’s best to get him back.
Time will tell the extent of Burns’ injury, but fans will want to know more, perhaps until Town boss McKenna previews this weekend’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
While Burns being sidelined will certainly be a blow to McKenna and Ipswich Town, he has the opportunity within his squad to maintain a strong squad even without the Welshman if he needs some time to recover.
Omari Hutchinson will likely be the main candidate for the starting lineup. Sone Aluko could also be controversial, as could Marcus Harness, who came on as a substitute in the opening four league games before missing out altogether against Cardiff City.
In five starts this season, Burns has one assist. Having been a successful provider of goals and assists from the right in League One, he will be determined to add more goals to his tally to prove himself in the second tier.

Unfortunately, it will still be months before the first meeting between the two sides takes place until mid-December.
This clash will take place at Portman Road and is currently scheduled for December 16, while the reverse fixture at Carrow Road is currently scheduled for April 6.
Although remote, this meeting on April 6 is particularly attractive as it comes at the end of the Championship season and its potential importance could give both clubs a good start for the season.
For example, when they returned to the Championship, Ipswich Town took to the top of the league like a duck to water. In 5 matches in the national championship so far, Kieran McKenna’s team has 4 wins and only lost 1.
This puts them second on the rankings with 12 points at this early stage.
The Canaries have one less win to their name, having won three, drawn and lost once, but are just two points behind Ipswich in the table in fifth place going into the international break.
That said, with the international break approaching and out of interest, we took a look at ticket costs across the EFL.
Here we’ve done just that, comparing the cheapest tickets available from Ipswich Town to Norwich City. What is the cheapest ticket price for Ipswich Town vs. Norwich City matches?
First of all, it is important to distinguish how each club sets its ticket prices.
Both clubs adopt a category approach, for example classifying the most important matches in “Category A”, descending down to “Cats B, Cats”.
