Cardiff City rushed to sign the midfielder last July, but he has been linked with a move away from the Championship club.

Sawyers, 31, has signed a two-year contract with the Welsh side, meaning he has entered the final 12 months of his contract.

He has fallen out of favor with new boss Erol Bulut and his future is now uncertain.

Cardiff must make a decision regarding Sawyer’s situation if Maccabi Tel Aviv makes an offer. They risk losing him for free next June if they don’t cash in on him now or in January, assuming he doesn’t pen an extension soon. The Bluebirds signed him to add competition and depth to their midfield. He then made 39 appearances in all competitions last season and scored 3 goals.

Sawyers is an experienced Football League player and has played 440 games so far in his career, scoring 34 times. He has also played for West Brom, Walsall, Brentford, West Brom and Stoke City in the past and could leave again in the near future.

A move to Israel could potentially give the Saint Kitts and Nevis international the opportunity to play abroad for the first time and possibly in a European competition as well. He has never played outside England.

Maccabi Tel Aviv finished third in the Israel Pro League last season and are now coached by former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool striker Robbie Keane.
