Chelsea forced to sell star linked to Tottenham in January because of FFP; £25 million needed for the deal
Chelsea may be forced to sell defender Trevoh Chalobah in January to ease concerns about Financial Fair Play laws.
The 24-year-old is a product of the Blues academy and as such any purchases will be considered pure profits in their accounts.
Chalobah is said to intend to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Reports suggest Nottingham Forest made a £25m offer for him and it was accepted, but Chalobah rejected a move to the City Ground.
Tottenham have also requested his signature.
Bayern Munich are also interested in the defender and plan to replace him in January.
Pochettino was asked about Chalobah in a recent interview.
This comes after it was reported that he had been ‘kicked out’ of the Chelsea squad.
“Of course [he’s still in his plans].
I’m Chelsea, I’m the coach and his future depends on the season.
Pochettino said.
“He is in our plans.
No one will decide for me.
However, everything currently points to him leaving Chelsea in January.

Chelsea plans to sell Chalobah in January
According to Football Insider, Chelsea are ‘keen’ to sell Chalobah in January to ease FFP’s concerns.
Chelsea spent around £400 million on new recruits in the summer transfer window, including Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo.
Therefore, they need to sell more players to ensure they do not violate the Premier League’s spending regulations, and Chalobah seems to be one of the most likely to leave.
The midfielder has not yet appeared for Chelsea this season due to a hamstring injury sustained in pre-season.
With Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva and Levi Colwill now three of the first names on the Chelsea squad sheet, it seems unlikely that Chalobah will be able to break into the starting line-up upon his return.
While a move to Nottingham Forest may not appeal to him, we think he would be keen to reunite with Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich.
Tottenham are also said to be interested in signing Chalobah, so they could throw their hat in the ring.
With this in mind, it will be interesting to see whether the German giants or Spurs are willing to pay the £25 million needed to sign Chalobah.
same in January.

Chelsea struggled to lose the match against Tottenham’s top target, who is about to resign after Pochettino’s decision
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher may decide to quit if he is dropped from the starting lineup, as Tottenham are still pursuing him.
Millions of dollars spent at Stamford Bridge in recent transfer periods have not yet brought many results.
In just one short year since Todd Boehly took control of the club, Chelsea has spent nearly a billion pounds.
Last season, the Blues could only finish 12th as the players struggled to regroup.
For a club of Chelsea’s size, they can expect to be much higher in the league at the end of the season, especially after spending so much money.
This summer, more money was spent but has yet to translate into real results.
After 5 matches, the Blues, under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, are ranked 14th in the Premier League rankings and have won only one match.
It’s clear that major spending is yet to happen, which could lead to further problems in the long run.
A number of academy players – Mason Mount, Calum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek – were all sold as Chelsea tried to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations due to their excessive spending.
Gallagher can therefore resign
Midfielder Gallagher could now resign over Chelsea’s spending.
Football Insider reported that the English player “could change his position by resigning if he loses his place in the team before January”.
He has attracted interest from many sides this summer, but wants to stay to ‘fight’ for new manager Pochettino, hoping he will get his chance alongside him.
He has started every match so far this season and has even captained the Blues twice.
But Romeo Lavia, a £58m summer addition, has yet to play, and Moise Caicedo, a £115m player, has barely featured – both will certainly be on the mind Pochettino’s when they are ready.
Given the potential pressure on Gallagher, if sacked, he could clearly choose to leave the club.
Tottenham increased the pressure on Chelsea
Tottenham could be the ideal destination for him if he leaves the Stamford Bridge project.
North London have been interested this summer, making an offer for him and are said to be “considering a return” in January.
It is thought that Gallagher’s future at Chelsea could be determined by his financial situation.
Indeed, they may need to sell it, financial fair play laws are certainly still above them.
There is also information that they will consider selling for the right price and Tottenham could benefit from this move.
With the odds stacked against the Blues, they are certainly at risk of losing their star man and their big spending could be the cause of the promising youngster’s departure.
