Hull City and Blackburn Rovers are said to be interested in signing George Cox this summer. The talented defender is a vital part of Fortuna Sittard’s side, and there is no doubt he can make it into the Championship side. Cox began his career with Brighton & Hove Albion, where he played 59 times for the Under-21 team. He was also on loan with Northampton during the 18/19 season.

With Volendam, George Cox will fill the void left by Derry John Murkin, who was transferred to Schalke 04 this summer. Cox will play alongside former Portsmouth defender Josh Flint, who joined Volendam in 2020. Speaking on the club’s website, Cox said: “I’m very excited about this project. I’ll give it my all myself for the team and hope we can bring out everyone’s full potential in the upcoming period Volendam is currently bottom of the Eredivisie table having lost 4 matches so far this season.

Roberto De Zerbi’s work at Brighton & Hove Albion appears to inspire those around him at the club.

The proof is the interview that former Premier League midfielder Sandro Ranieri gave to Brazilian media this week. The 34-year-old player is now retired, studying to become a coach and spent time with De Zerbi at Brighton. In an interview with ESPN Brasil, he provided some details about what he learned there.

When asked about the Seagulls coach and the new challenges they are facing, Sandro explained that those around the club are confident that the Italian coach will take them to the next level.

“They will dream about the Champions League. Sure. De Zerbi was not joking,” Sandro told ESPN Brasil.

“The players understand very well what De Zerbi football is. It’s very difficult, you’ve seen how it is in the Premier League. You watched the game, they beat Manchester United there. I played there and know how difficult it is to beat Manchester there. They will fight hard to win tickets to the Champions League next year.

Sandro first came to England, joining Tottenham in 2010. He played for Spurs for four years, then also played for Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion. He then played in Türkiye, Italy, Brazil and Portugal until officially retiring last year.

What is interesting is how Brighton has become the benchmark for those studying to become managers.
