Brandon Thomas-Asante shares that West Brom’s ambition will bring confidence to fans
The Baggies have had a difficult start to the season, winning just two of their opening nine matches, losing three and drawing the remaining four, but the players are confident they can turn things around.
First-choice striker Carlos Corberan has shared his belief that there is no team in the league working harder than West Brom at the moment, and that gives the players confidence that their efforts will not be in vain.
Thomas-Asante told the Express and Star on September 27:
“We want to win every game and I talked about Burnley last year, how they did and how hard they worked. I don’t think there’s another team that works as hard as us tactically, physically, timing-wise.” spent on the training ground working.
“We are doing all this work so that it bears long-term results and we want to see that and as players we are confident that our efforts will not be in vain.
“Sometimes you can do the work and it takes a while to see and we are at that stage but it can happen that things happen before we start getting those wins and Once we got there, I wouldn’t look back.
The fact this West Brom squad are working hard on the training ground to turn around their unstable start to the season will put the preparation in place to go and show that hard work on the pitch. It is now up to the players to make sure that’s what they do.
Confidence in the players at the training ground that they will improve on recent results is another positive step towards achieving them. It’s when heads start to drop that real problems emerge, and that doesn’t seem to be the case at West Brom.
There is also recognition that the results haven’t been good enough, regardless of performances or external influences on the games, results are what the Baggies need.
For Thomas-Asante to share such confidence in himself and his teammates will be music to the ears of West Brom fans, who will now be hoping that his prediction of results to come will turn out to be correct.

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan wants his side to compete better in the first half of matches, as the Baggies gear up for Saturday’s trip to Preston North End.
Albion are winless since August 26th, but are also unbeaten in their last three matches having drawn with Bristol City, Watford and most recently Millwall. West Brom endured goalless stalemates with the Robins and the Lions, leaving them in 13th spot ahead of the Deepdale encounter this weekend.
Corberan’s men have won two and lost two this season, with four draws to their name. The Baggies are 10 points adrift of Preston in the early part of the campaign and Ryan Lowe’s side will be looking to extend their eight-game unbeaten start to the season. But, they must be ready for Albion to come quick out the blocks – should they grant Corberan his wish.
“The negative thing was part of the first half,” said Corberan post-Millwall. “We didn’t compete well enough in the game – in the 50-50 balls, in our defending or in our attacking. It was a poor beginning to the game for us. The only thing that we can regret is that we didn’t do these things for the full game. Now, our main focus is not just to keep a clean sheet. It’s to replicate our second-half performances against Bristol City and Millwall, and make sure we perform like that for the full 90 minutes. If we were to do that, we would give ourselves a much better chance of winning games.”
