FORMER NOTTINGHAM FOREST AND SPARTA ROTTERDAM STRIKER HAS ENDED HIS CONTRACT WITH SOUTH KOREAN AFTER PURCHASING DRIVER
According to Voetbal International, Lars Veldwijk has had his contract with Korean club Suwon FC terminated after he was caught driving drunk. The former Nottingham Forest and Sparta Rotterdam striker initially received a 15-match suspension in the K-League, but Suwon later decided to release their star player. The 32-year-old man was arrested for drunk driving in August and received a heavy fine in South Korea.
Veldwijk has spent the last three seasons with Suwon FC, where he has become incredibly popular. In 111 games he scored 40 goals and provided 21 assists. The former South Africa international is now without a club, but it’s expected that a Dutch club will come calling soon, as he’s previously played for seven different sides in the Netherlands.
Volendam, Utrecht, Dordrecht, Groningen, PEC Zwolle, Sparta Rotterdam and Excelsior Rotterdam are among the many clubs that Lars Veldwijk has played for. He also had a brief spell with Nottingham Forest, where he scored just one goal in 17 appearances. Suwon FC have said goodbye to the striker and he’ll officially leave the club on the 30th of September.

Paul Merson believes Brentford are “there for the taking” when they face Nottingham Forest this weekend.
It’s been a difficult start for Thomas Frank’s side who have won just once in the Premier League so far this season. The Bees were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup in mid-week.
Nottingham Forest-linked striker Serhou Guirassy is said to have a release clause in his contract which is due to become active next year.
The Reds were linked with the Stuttgart forward in the summer as they looked to bolster their attacking resources in a bid to push on in the Premier League. He was said to have been on their radar for some time.
And if Forest consider reviving their interest, Guirassy could be available for a bargain price. But there is likely to be plenty of competition for his signature come the end of the campaign.
He has been in fine form for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season. He has scored in five consecutive league appearances, registering 10 goals thanks to a hat-trick and a treble of braces.
Strengthening their attacking options was a priority for Forest during the transfer window. They added forward Divock Origi on deadline day and also brought in wingers Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
AC Milan loanee Origi has made two substitute appearances so far. He faces a fight to earn a place in the starting XI given the form of Taiwo Awoniyi, who has scored three goals so far this term.
