Steve Cooper provides an injury update on the 34-year-old Nottingham Forest player
Steve Cooper has provided further update on Nottingham Forest defender Felipe’s injury.
The 34-year-old Brazilian has not played this season due to ongoing knee injuries, but there is no timetable for his return to action.
Felipe was a phenomenon for the Red Devils last season, however, injury problems along with age made it difficult for the former Atletico Madrid player to recover.
Boss Cooper admitted during his press conference yesterday, that Felipe’s injury was an ‘ongoing situation’ that the club are trying to manage.
Ahead of Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Brentford, Cooper told the media that the Brazilian suffered a setback in his progress last weekend.
“Felipe is an ongoing situation with his knee so it’s something that we’re trying to manage carefully.
“We’re trying to support him in the best way possible to give him the best chance possible of being back involved with the team.
“He missed last week because it [his knee] flared up a bit and like I said it’s a daily management situation with him.”
Coming off the back of such a consistent season last campaign, the Brazilian would’ve wanted to hit the ground running to help the Reds build on the 16th-place finish they achieved.
However, he’s had to sit out every game, something which no player wants to do.
He’s a great professional, with a great attitude – so hopefully the 34-year-old can return as soon as possible without aggravating the current issue with his knee.

Nottingham Forest have been handed a boost should they reignite their interest in Juventus youngster Samuel Iling Junior, according to reports in Italy.
Forest were linked with an interest in the 19-year-old back in August as Steve Cooper looked to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season. It was said that an official approach was ‘expected’ from both Forest and Serie A side Bologna, with the latter keen to take the teenager on loan.
A move away from Juventus never materialised during the summer window. Forest instead completed a move for Anthony Elanga from Manchester United, but could be given a prompt to reignite their interest when the January window opens.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via SportWitness ), the winger tops Juventus’ sale list ahead of the January window as they look to raise funds in order to sign Domenico Berardi. There are said to be a few admirers of Iling Junior in the Premier League, with Juventus said to be expecting a fee of around €15-20 million (£13-17.3m).
Everton and Brighton are the other two teams to have previously been linked with an interest in the player. There were however some reports this week that Juventus could look to extend the player’s contract.
The England U21 international has seen his game time reduce this season following the emergence of Andrea Cambiaso. Illing Junior has made three appearances in Serie A but was an unused substitute in last week’s 1-0 win over Leece.
The 19-year-old started his career with Chelsea before moving to Juventus in the summer of 2020. He has played a total of 21 times for the Italian giants’ first team, scoring once
