The Toronto Raptors are practicing in Burnaby this week for the NBA Canada Series

Tickets for Toronto’s only public training session at SFU’s Burnaby campus sold out in 90 minutes.

If you want to meet some of the NBA’s best players in Burnaby this week, you’ll probably have to look through the window or wait outside for photos and autographs.

The Toronto Raptors will join the community for three pre-game practices ahead of the 2023 season in Vancouver on Sunday, October 1. 8.

This includes a workout open to the public on Friday, October 6 in the West Gym at Simon Fraser University (8888 University Dr.).

However, the paid event sold out within 90 minutes of the first purchase – at 10am on September 6.

Burnaby Post-Secondary School’s athletic department said the gym only has a capacity of 1,600 people. Net proceeds, with donations ranging from $20 to $40, will benefit SFU’s General Athletics Fund, which supports the school’s teams and academic programs each year.

The Raptors’ two other practices, which will not be open to the public, are scheduled for tomorrow, October 3, and Saturday, October 7 at the Christine Sinclair Community Center. Toronto’s practice at SFU is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday.

The Raptors’ stay in Burnaby will mark the 2019 NBA championship club’s five-year return to British Columbia and the eighth exhibition game in the province in franchise history.

Toronto is scheduled to face the Sacramento Kings on October 8 at 5 p.m. at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
