Calvin Bassey could be set to land Rangers a sizeable transfer windfall as it emerged he’s reportedly close to landing a move to Brighton.

The former Ibrox defender spent last season at Ajax following his £19million switch to the Eredivisie with add-ons part of the deal secured by the Gers at the time. The Nigerian, 23, managed 36 appearances last term in all competitions but was, at times, accused of lacking the playing-out-from-the-back capabilities to star in the Netherlands.

Now, though, the Seagulls in the Premier League are reportedly in the hunt for the player who was a standout for Gers in both the Europa League Final and Scottish Cup Final two years ago
