Samed Benrahma is losing patience with West Ham United manager David Moyes and is ready to leave the club in January, according to a report by GiveMeSport. The former Eurosport journalist told GiveMeSport that Benrahma feels “let down” every time he is dropped from the first team, which is understandable given the competition for places in Moyes’ new-look teamSince the start of the new season, the former Brentford striker has made five starts in all competitions and has only featured 303 minutes in the Premier League since the new season began after playing a key role in 50+ games last seasonAccording to Jones, Benrahma is struggling to remain calm in the face of a lack of opportunities. He said, “Benrahma has been hit over and over again, and he has to learn to control his emotions and not snap when he feels he
should be on the team. He also has to learn to stay calm so when he does get the chance, he really makes the most of it.”Benrahma, says Jones, is having to “calm down” in the face of a “lack of opportunities” at West Ham. “It’s understandable that he’ll be frustrated every time he is dropped, but that’s been his story at West Ham and he has had to deal with it time and time again. He just needs to keep fighting back and show that he deserves to be in the first team.” While Benrahma may be trying to stifle the urge to hit out each time he is left out of the Hammers’ starting lineup, it has always been a thorn in his side at the club due to his lack of regularity. While Moyes may be right to drop him from time to time, it is a problem that could well turn into an exit in the near future. The addition of new signings such as Kudus, Ward Prowse and Mavropanos will not only add excellent depth to the West Ham United squad, but they should also send a message to every player that they can be moved on. The improved squad depth will be of great benefit to the club as they bid to compete in all four competitions this season, including Europe, but it may leave some players concerned about their place in the first team. And Benrahma is no exception, especially after his key role in the club’s success last season, when he played in all 50 games as they won the Europa Conference League.
The former Brentford striker will have hoped that his promotion to the first team last season would mean he would be guaranteed starts this season, but that hasn’t been the case. The onus is on him to be patient. With West Ham fighting on all fronts, he will undoubtedly be given chances, but he will have to make the most of them. If he’s not patient enough, that’s another question entirely, and he could well look to leave in January if these ‘problems’ continue. Also in West Ham news, one of the club’s senior players has reacted badly to manager Mark Hughes’ decision and is set to step down in the near future.
