Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett Given the Green Light for Week 5; Can the Former First-Round Pick Take Down Division Foe

 Baltimore on Sunday?

The clock may already be ticking on Steelers QB Kenny Pickett

The Pittsburgh Steelers will have quarterback Kenny Pickett available in Week 5. The gunslinger was limited in practice earlier this week before practicing in full on Thursday. He has since got the green light heading into Pittsbugh’s Sunday matchup against divisional foe Baltimore. Pickett left last week’s contest at Houston after getting sacked on 4th-and-1 in the third quarter of his team’s 30-6 loss. The former first-round pick struggled mightily in defeat, finishing the game 15-of-23 for 114 yards and one pick with no touchdowns. Former Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky went 3-for-5 for 18 yards in relief.

Steelers’ QB Kenny Pickett is off the injury report and expected to start Sunday vs. the Ravens while Pittsburgh TE Pat Freiermuth is listed out for that game.
Pickett suffered two concussions during his rookie season in 2022. He missed Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers but played most of the team snaps after taking over for Mitch Trubisky. The Pittsburgh Panthers product finished the year with 2,404 passing yards and seven scores against nine interceptions. He also added 237 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Kenny Pickett has struggled this season, much like he did during his rookie year. The six-foot-three signal-caller has completed just 60% of his passes for four touchdowns against four picks. His rating of 76.3 is lower than that of 2022. However, the Steeler’s woes on offense are not all on Pickett. He has gotten sacked eleven times, while Pittsburgh is 26th in average yards per rushing attempt. Offensive coordinator Matt Canada has also caught flack for his uninspiring playcalling. Players and fans have taken to social media to take their anger out on Canada, specifically last week when the Steelers threw from the shotgun on the fourth down play that injured Pickett.
After logging a full practice on Thursday and being deemed available for Week 5, Kenny Pickett should be at full strength against the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers split against the Ravens in 2022.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ struggles have been well-documented this season, but there’s an argument to be made that their offensive woes are nothing new. Some might even suggest the issues trace back to offensive coordinator, and play-caller Matt Canada.
But Najee Harris doesn’t want to hear any of the team’s criticism pointed at Canada or any other coaches on the Steelers.

Coach Tomlin admitted changes were coming following the teams’ 30-6 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 4. Just what those changes may be remains to be seen.

Quarterback Kenny Pickett is already dealing with a knee bruise, and while he was able to practice on Wednesday, there’s always a chance the team turns to backup Mitchell Trubisky if their starter isn’t close to 100 percent.

Other possibilities could include more changes along the offensive line or possibly even to the running back rotation, which would directly impact Harris. But as he said, at least he realizes the team’s current production is nowhere near where it needs to be.
