REPORT: Kansas City Chiefs Lose Key Offensive Starter For Multiple Weeks- Week 6
The Kansas City Chiefs have lost a key offensive starter for at least a few weeks. Receiver Justin Watson, who leads the team in yards per catch has been diagnosed with a dislocated elbow. He is getting an MRI right now after his X-rays came back negative. This news comes from NFL insider and reporter Ian Rapoport via Twitter
#Chiefs WR Justin Watson, who leads his team with 21.9 yards per catch, suffered a dislocated elbow last night, sources say. X-Rays were negative and he’s getting an MRI now. He’s out a few weeks at least, and it could be longer based on the results of the scans.
The Chiefs’ receiver attempted to pull in a deep pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes late in the fourth quarter. It ended up being slightly out of reach for Watson and caused him to land awkwardly on his arm. He was instantly taken off of the field to seek medical attention and did not return to the action.
Head coach Andy Reid updated reporters on the situation immediately after the game. He told reporters that they would evaluate Watson’s injury as soon as possible, which ended up being today. Luckily, it is confirmed that he did not break any bones, but will still miss a good chunk of time.
Justin Watson has been a valuable asset to the Chiefs’ offense this season. He has amounted to 219 receiving yards and has a 21.9 yards per catch which leads the team. He has emerged as one of Mahomes’ favorite targets in 2023, so this loss can seriously hurt their offense.
Kansas City has gotten off to a 5-1 start to the 2023 season which puts them as the best team in the AFC conference. Some believe that the Chiefs look like they have taken a step back offensively, though, as they have been in a lot of tight matchups this year. At the end of the day, even if they are not as proficient on offense, they still have managed to pull off the win in most of these tight games.

Green Bay Packers rival Danielle Hunter, who is a defensive end on the Minnesota Vikings, is in the final year of his contract with the team. He is 28 years old and can very well not be with the team within the next two weeks. Minnesota is 2-4 on the year after defeating the Chicago Bears on Sunday in Week 6 by a final score of 19-
Christopher Kline of Fansided has Danielle Hunter linked to the Kansas City Chiefs. He said about the possibility of Danielle Hunter going to the Kansas City Chiefs:
“Kansas City’s offense gets more shine in the national media, but it takes a well-rounded group to win a championship. Jones and the Chiefs’ defense were essential to knocking off Philadelphia in the Super Bowl and Hunter would firmly cement the Chiefs as 2024 favorites. It took the front office longer than expected to reach a contract extension with Jones , but that wouldn’t necessarily stop them from paying Hunter. Plus, there’s every reason for Kansas City to go all-in on this season.”
Kansas City is 5-1 this season, and their defensive front would be even scarier with him and Chris Jones up front. It would increase their chances of winning back-to-back Super Bowl titles, which has not been done since the 2003 and 2004 New England Patriots.
Danielle Hunter on the year has 32 total tackles and eight sacks in six games played with Minnesota. Along with that, he has one forced fumble and two pass deflections. The Green Bay Packers rival is looking to potentially trade away pieces before the October 31 NFL trade deadline. Hunter is going to be a hot name on the market not only for the Kansas City Chiefs but for other NFL playoff-caliber teams that need a pass rusher as well.
