Duursma turns into a Don
After the Bombers and Port Adelaide reached an agreement to trade for the midfield player, Xavier Duursma will don the red and black in 2024.
The 23-year-old, who had earlier in the Continental Tyres AFL transfer Period sought a transfer to Port Adelaide, comes at the NEC Hangar in exchange for two future fourth round picks, pick No. 73, and defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher.
In the 2018 National Draft, Gippslander Duursma was selected by Port Adelaide with pick No. 18 and went on to play 73 games.
Zerk-Thatcher leaves for Adelaide’s Port
Brandon Zerk-Thatcher was traded to Port Adelaide in 2024, and Essendon would like to thank him for his contributions to the team.
Earlier in the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, Zerk-Thatcher requested a trade; on the last day of the period, the Bombers and Power reached a deal.
Hawthorn welcomes D’Ambrosio.
Massimo D’Ambrosio, the defender, has left Essendon and is going to Hawthorn.
In the last seconds of the 2023 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, the two clubs reached an agreement; in exchange for the defender, Essendon received selection No. 61 and a future fourth round.
Dons enhance their 2023 draft pick
Essendon now has a better hand in the 2023 NAB AFL draft after acquiring a second-round pick.
The club will part with selection No. 52 (Western Bulldogs) and a future third round pick (Carlton) in exchange for pick No. 35 and a potential fourth round selection that was linked to the Western Bulldogs.
This transaction is one of four that Essendon, St Kilda, the Western Bulldogs, and Carlton are involved in.
At Bomberland, Gresham lands
Jade Gresham, a small forward, has officially signed the Essendon Bombers as a restricted free agency. The team is happy to have him.
The AFL approved the 26-year-old’s agreement today, confirming his wish to play for Essendon earlier this week. Gresham has a three-year contract to join the Bombers.After eight seasons with St Kilda, where he played 136 games and kicked 136 goals, Gresham will don the red and black. At pick No. 18, he was selected in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft.Ben McKay, a crucial defender, has joined Essendon from North Melbourne as a restricted free agent. He will be arriving at the NEC Hangar.The Bombers have signed the 25-year-old to a six-year contract, marking the team’s second trade during the 2023 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.Todd Goldstein, an accomplished ruck, will don the red and black in 2024 after signing as an unrestricted free agency from the Kangaroos.With a one-year commitment, the 35-year-old will provide the Bombers 315 more games of experience.Stewart James
