Cleveland Browns teammate reveals Deshaun Watson’s set to return to practice
Deshaun Watson hasn’t played in the past two games for the Cleveland Browns. The team lost their first matchup, getting blown out 28-3 to the Baltimore Ravens. But somehow, P.J. Walker led the team to victory against the previously undefeated San Francisco 49ers in Week 6.
Watson’s absence has been due to a shoulder injury, specifically, a deep rotator cuff contusion, which has held him out for the past three weeks, with the Browns observing their bye in Week 5.
Throughout his absence, Watson has rested his injured shoulder, mostly avoiding throwing during practice to help his issue heal quicker.
But according to his teammate Amari Cooper, Watson is set to return to Browns practice on Thursday. If so, it will be the first time he’s made throws during practice since Sept. 29.
While Watson is expected to resume throwing, he’s not expected to participate in the full practice session, which still places his status for Week 7 in question. Watson has made three of the team’s five starts in 2023. If Watson is unable to play against the Indianapolis Colts, Walker will make his second start for the Browns this season.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper gave Browns fans some much-needed good news about their quarterback Deshaun Watson ahead of Thursday’s practice. Amari Cooper told reporters that Deshaun Watson, who has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury, will return to practice today, according to Jake Trotter.
Getting Deshaun Watson back on the practice field opens up the possibility that he’ll be able to play in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts. The extent and severity of Watson’s shoulder injury was unknown — even to the quarterback himself — so it’s a good sign in his recovery that he’ll be able to take the practice field.
The Browns are coming off a huge upset win over the San Francisco 49ers last week. PJ Walker got the start for that one, and despite throwing for only 192 yards and two interceptions, the Browns were still able to pull off the win.
While we’ll have to wait and see how much Watson practices, and whether he’s limited in that practice or not, getting time on the field by Thursday or Friday is usually a requisite for most players to be active on Sunday. While the Browns need Watson in the lineup, rushing him back to the field could have disastrous results. Cleveland made a huge, guaranteed investment in Watson, and we’ve seen in the past what can happen when a Browns quarterback tries to play through injury, as the trajectory of Baker Mayfield’s career changed completely after that.

Browns fans often exclaim that we can’t have nice things. Two wins in a row would be a nice thing. Since I’m a Cleveland Browns fan with some decades of experience, I’m spending the morning pondering all the reasons why the Browns’ rollercoaster season might trend downward next Sunday.
If I play out all the nightmare scenarios in my mind, my expectations will be low, and I’ll be deliriously happy if the Browns win. This is a much better strategy than being confident, a mistake I see many of you making. DON’T DO THIS. We are Browns fans. Know your history.
Wednesday is traditionally the day we shift focus to the upcoming opponent. That being the case, it’s time to apply my paranoid worldview fully to the notion of the Indianapolis Colts and how they might start pushing the 2023 Browns rollercoaster season in a downward direction.
First, the parallels between the Browns going to Indianapolis and the Niners coming to Cleveland are frightening on several levels. Both teams are coming off huge wins resulting in near-universal praise, with the Browns 19-17 victory over the previously undefeated Niners and San Francisco’s prior stomping of the Cowboys. Both are going to midwestern towns. Both are facing teams with backup quarterbacks who scare exactly no one. Both are missing key components; the Browns were missing Nick Chubb and Joel Bitonio, and the Colts will be missing Grover Stewart.
Both teams, shall we say, seem to be somewhat full of themselves heading into the game, with the phrase “best defense in the world” uttered in Berea and the Niners strutting around with boomboxes and 5-0 attitudes, which resulted in pre-game skirmishes.
