NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence avoids serious knee injury, remains day-to-day
NEW DELHI: Jacksonville Jaguars’ star quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, has breathed a sigh of relief as medical assessments indicate he has managed to avoid a severe knee injury. As the team gears up for a short week, Lawrence is currently considered “day-to-day,” according to an NFL Network report.
In the aftermath of Jacksonville’s thrilling 37-20 home victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Lawrence underwent evaluation for his left knee, which he described as “a little bruised” following the game. An MRI has been scheduled for Monday to gain further insights into the extent of the injury.

Trevor Lawrence threw for 204 yards and a touchdown as the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the New Orleans Saints 31-24.
The Jaguars, helped by two Travis Etienne touchdowns, took a 24-9 lead before the home side levelled at 24-24.
Lawrence then found Christian Kirk with a 44-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter to secure victory.
“I’m a little sore but it was worth it,” said Lawrence, who was a doubt for the game because of a knee injury. “It was a big win for us.”
The Saints drove to the Jaguars’ six-yard line in the final stages, but four Derek Carr throws into the end zone fell incomplete.
Saints tight end Foster Moreau was wide open in the end zone when he dropped a third-down pass with 25 seconds left.
The optimistic outlook within the Jaguars organization is that Lawrence will be fit to participate in their upcoming game. Jacksonville is set to face the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night.
Lawrence sustained the injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game when he was sacked by Samson Ebukam with only three minutes and four seconds remaining on the clock. He immediately reached for his knee in discomfort, prompting concern among his teammates and fans. Despite this, he displayed remarkable resilience and continued to play all but the final three snaps, which were kneel-downs.

McCaffrey quietly shuts down Vikings jersey swap after 49ers’ loss originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Christian McCaffrey wasn’t in a giving mood after the 49ers’ rough 22-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Shortly after San Francisco’s second consecutive loss, McCaffrey was talking to Vikings defensive lineman and former Stanford teammate Harrison Phillips on the field.
When Phillips began to take off his jersey in an attempt to swap with the 49ers star, McCaffrey shook his head, ending the chance of an exchange.
But the two former Cardinal did embrace and pose for a photo before going their separate ways.
McCaffrey and Phillips were Stanford teammates from 2014 to 2016.
The Carolina Panthers selected McCaffrey in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, while the Buffalo Bills took Phillips in the third round in 2018.
McCaffrey finished with 45 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in the loss, extending his streak to 16 straight games, including the playoffs, with a scrimmage score. He also had three receptions for 51 yards and another touchdown.
Two weeks ago, the San Francisco 49ers were the best team in football. It wasn’t even a question. There were no warning signs or reasons to believe they were anything but the NFL’s most complete, dominant team.
But like the rest of the league this season, it all just changed for no real reason. The 49ers lost as a big favorite in Week 6 at the Cleveland Browns, who had backup P.J. Walker at quarterback, and then in Week 7 they lost again as a big favorite. This time it was the Minnesota Vikings, who were 2-4 coming in and took it to the 49ers.
Kirk Cousins, whose poor record on Monday nights has been mocked for years, had an excellent game and led a huge 22-17 win in Minneapolis. Brock Purdy had two chances for a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter but couldn’t come through either time, throwing a pair of interceptions, including one with 25 seconds left. The win gets the Vikings to 3-4 this season.
The 49ers still are one of the NFL’s best teams but weird back-to-back losses means they’re vulnerable, just like everyone else.
Adding to the randomness of Monday night’s Vikings upset, it was led by Cousins, whose teams were 2-10 on Monday nights coming in. Suddenly Cousins, playing without injured superstar receiver Justin Jefferson, was carving up the 49ers’ respected defense.
Cousins has been the subject of trade speculation, but the Vikings are far from dead at 3-4 in a bad NFC. He was at his best on Monday night, throwing for 378 yards and two touchdowns against an excellent defense and doing so without one of the NFL’s best players to throw to.
The Vikings played well in the first half, then hit an enormous play in the final seconds before halftime. Cousins threw a pass that was almost intercepted, but rookie Jordan Addison wrestled it away, turned upfield and had a 60-yard touchdown. The Vikings led 16-7 after that.
