A clear and shocking message for News York Giants fans

Mailbag: “One Frustrating Season” Edition, New York Giants

Let’s check in with the readers this week to see what’s on their minds.

Mark, I recall the game reps I received throughout the preseason. What, one series of play for the majority of the starting offense and defense? I strongly attacked Joe Judge for taking that method a few years ago, and I shall do so again here. You had fresh components and a shaky offensive line that you were cycling in and out of.

And, no matter what people say, you can’t rehearse the speed of a game or the tackling situations. In my perspective, they cheated themselves out of valuable reps.

And for those who believe, “Well, they didn’t want to get anyone hurt,” consider what has happened since the regular season began. Guys were injured. So I don’t want to hear it as an excuse for not playing the starters more and allowing them to get into a game rhythm.New York Giants Mailbag: "One Frustrating Season" Edition - Sports Illustrated New York Giants News, Analysis and More

Ben, Despite the fact that many people believe I do, I do not work for the team. So it’s not my responsibility to persuade people to watch this team or not.

Personally, if I didn’t have to watch as part of my job, I’d still tune in because there are only so many football games per year. Because it is the future, I am interested in player growth. That being said, I hope you have a good time doing whatever you chose to do with your remaining football Sundays.

Ted, how are you? That is not my impression of the locker room as a whole. Are there any players who are dissatisfied with their contract situation? Perhaps. But I don’t believe Daboll has lost control of the locker room. Ben McAdoo was kicked out of the locker room. Pat Shurmur was defeated in the locker room. Daboll, in my judgment, has not.

The Giants are rehabilitating several injured players, which is a start. If the season continues to slip away, I expect to see more of the young men; it’s important to figure out what they have now so they can fine-tune what they need to get.
