Watford will have the opportunity to sign the former Huddersfield Town player in January

Etienne Camara joined Udinese this summer from the Terriers, but he could now make a quick return to England with the Hornets Watford’s links with Udinese have come under scrutiny over the years, with the Pozzo family owning owns both clubs – and that means a lot of transfer dealing between the two teams.
To be clear, Giampaolo Pozzo is the owner of the Serie A team and he also controls Watford, but in 2014 he handed over his son Gino to the Hornets.

This has not prevented transactions between the two clubs, and since the start of the partnership in 2012 there have been 62 separate transfers, some involving the same players for The initial loan becomes permanent.
Four Watford players – Christian Kabasele, Maduka Okoye, Domingos Quina and Joao Ferreira – all joined the Italian side in the summer transfer window, but Valérien Ismael’s side could be looking to strengthen their squad in January with a player under contract from Udinese.

With just one year left on his contract with the Terriers, Camara has been offered cash for an estimated fee of around €2 million for the promising defensive midfielder.
It could be a quick return to England for the 20-year-old, who spent three years at Huddersfield before heading to mainland Europe.
Camara joined Town’s development squad in October 2020 after playing in Angers’ youth system in his native France, and he made his first-team debut a few months later in the FA Cup.
2022-23 was Camara’s breakthrough season as he made his league debut for Huddersfield early in the season under Mark Fotheringham, before starting eight consecutive games, although towards the end of the season he barely used by Neil Warnock.

Regardless, Camara moved to Udinese, but it still didn’t work out.
How is Etienne Camara doing at Udinese?
After signing a four-year contract this summer, Camara may have been planned as a project, but he is yet to come off the bench for Udinese – who are struggling in 16th place – in Serie A.
Young French player’s only first team action to date has been in the second round of the Italian Cup against fellow first division side Caglliari, where he played 89 minutes as a defensive midfielder dwell.
Additionally, Camara has been unlucky in his efforts to gain minutes, which may explain why Udinese are willing to facilitate his return to England.
Is Etienne Camara a good signing for Watford?
When Camara signed for Udinese, there was always a good chance that at some point he would head to Vicarage Road.
The youngster showed his ability at Huddersfield last season and he has a lot of potential, but he won’t learn much on the bench in Italy.
At Watford, Camara will have the opportunity to play more as Jake Livermore will be his only real rival for the anchor midfield position, although centre-back Francisco Sierralta also plays there.
If Camara gets regular minutes then he would be a good loan signing in January – if it’s a permanent deal which Udinese are willing to make then that would be even more beneficial for Ishmael.
