Davidson could leave his job as head coach at St Johnstone in April and return to the Rovers management team.
The Scotsman spent seven years of his playing career at PNE, making over 150 appearances for the club.
Davidson He was signed from Leicester City in 2004 and North he became favorite at the end.
He became club captain in 2009 after Paul McKenna left.
Davidson has even been rumored to be returning to PNE in 2021, with reports in Scotland suggesting he is on the short list to replace Frankie McAvoy.
Davidson initially did an excellent job at St Johnstone, although North End opted for Ryan Rowe instead.
Davidson led St Johnstone to Europe against all odds with a domestic cup double in 2021.
However, this team began to fall apart and a major departure came when PNE signed midfielder Ali McCann.
Ms Davidson was unable to continue St Johnstone’s success and lost her job earlier this year.
With Davidson currently fighting his way back to England, there is a chance he will win the job at Bristol Rovers, where he will coach former PNE star Scott Sinclair.
