The Steelers have signed an unusual athlete who will return to the NFL in Week 4 against the Texans after six years away.
Prior to Sunday’s match, punter Brad Wing was elevated from the practice squad.
After six years gone, Brad Wing is officially back in the NFL, so it’s a good thing he didn’t give up on his profession.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, who choose to add some insurance at the punter position this week after Pressley Harvin III suffered a hamstring injury during the team’s 23–18 victory over the Raiders last week, have signed the punter to a practice squad contract.

Due in large part to his stellar XFL season—he finished in the top three in punts, punting average, total yards, and longest punt—the Steelers signed Wing. Before deciding to sign Wing, the Steelers also evaluated a few other punters, such as Doug Chrisman, Blake Gillikin, and Pat O’Donnell.
If the 32-year-old is able to play this weekend, it will be his first NFL game in nearly six years. He hasn’t participated in a game since December 2017.
