The superstar centre-back was a notable omission from Paul Lowry’s 21-man squad, announced at lunchtime on Friday ahead of Sunday’s home game against Wigan.
“He’s got a little bit of a problem,” Red Devils assistant coach Chrisnan Inu said at the club’s weekly press conference.
“He’s been playing a lot of minutes and is obviously our last-minute key guy, so he should get some rest.
“We gave him a little bit of time off this week, but we hope he’s back next week.

England international Andy Ackers has been out of action since May 28 after failing two head injury tests in the space of a few weeks.
The 29-year-old will not play for Salford this weekend, but Dogs says Ackers is fit and training well.

“He still has some things to check off, but he’s ready.
I think it’s up to Super League or the RFL to decide what boxes need to be ticked, but he’s trained well and is ready.

“Ackers hasn’t played in recent weeks.

But Dogs knows he has to be much better than he was in last week’s Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat to Hull KR.

“The players that come in, they know they have a job to do and it’s a big job, so they’re going to prepare as well as they can and they’re worried because they’re on the form side.
