Nebraska Basketball Recap: Huskers comfortably beat Cal State Fullerton with an 85-72 win

Nebraska struggled a little bit early, particularly with Max Jones. Jones hit two early three-pointers and was almost immediately into double digits for the Titans. Nebraska looked good from the free-throw line early, and that is a trend that continues from the last couple of games. took a 47-36 lead into the half. Nebraska looked really good from both the free-throw and three-point line. Rienk Mast had a good early 8 minutes, as he had 5 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

For the half, Cal State Fullerton finished shooting 42.4% from the floor, including going 4-11 from the three-point line. The Titans finished the first half with 17 rebounds, including 7 on the offensive side. That was a bit troubling for Nebraska on the opening part of the first half, as 5 of those 7 were in the opening 11 minutes. Max Jones led the Titans with 19 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Jones, Grayson Carper and Jalen Cooper all finished the half with 3 rebounds, which paced Cal State Fullerton.

Nebraska finished the half shooting 48.5% from the floor, including 7-17 from the three-point line. The Huskers continue their fantastic work from the free-throw line, going a perfect 8-8. Nebraska had 20 rebounds in the half, including 7 on the offensive glass. Nebraska also finished the half with 11 assists on 16 field goals, which keeps up with the theme of sharing the basketball on offense. Rienk Mast and Brice Williams led the Huskers with 11 points each, while Mast also led Nebraska with 4 rebounds. Seven Huskers scored in the first half.

The second half was a little (or a lot) sloppier than the first half. After Nebraska started the second half with back-to-back 3’s from Mast and Tominaga, the game got a lot choppier. Both teams would go on a 4-minute drought, and at the same time. The only point scored during that time was a Juwan Gary free-throw just before the under 8 minute timeout. Max Jones, who was doing virtually all the damage for Fullerton, went out an elbow injury at that time. Happily, for all involved, he would return to the game a few minutes later. Nebraska was never troubled, as Fullerton could only cut the lead to 11 at its lowest.
