Worst nightmare for Ohio State Buckeyes……….

Which Ohio State football players previously out with injury are back at practice?

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day said Wednesday an injury update on starting safety Lathan Ransom will wait until Saturday’s availability report.

Ransom is expected to miss time after suffering a lower leg injury last Saturday at Wisconsin. He was not among the players seen coming off the field after practice in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, however, jogged across the indoor practice field towards the locker room. That is the best indication so far that the starting slot receiver, who has missed the past three games, will be ready to play Saturday at Rutgers.

Quarterback Kyle McCord had his left ankle taped up, and backup quarterback Devin Brown had his right ankle taped up. The latter appeared to have returned to practice in some capacity, though. He did not travel to Wisconsin after suffering that injury against Penn State the previous week.

With three games remaining before Michigan, though, Ransom’s injury status is the most pivotal that has not yet been assigned a timeline.

Ransom appeared to suffer a non-contact injury in the fourth quarter of last Saturday’s win at Wisconsin. He hopped to the sideline, then was transported to the locker room, first by cart and then by wheelchair.

However, he walked back to the sideline later in the quarter and appeared to be testing out the injury. In his absence, Ohio State expanded its lead to 14 points.

Ransom ranks fourth on the team in tackles (34) with an interception, two pass breakups and a forced fumble

In his absence, OSU may move Sonny Styles from nickel to bandit and play Jordan Hancock more exclusively at nickel. It could also use players such as Ja’Had Carter (currently coming back from his own injury) and Malik Hartford at bandit.
