Previewing Georgia football as 2023 season kicks off
The DAWGs hope to conquer the college football world once again and become the first team to achieve the goal for the third time.
ATHENS, Ga.
– When the Georgia Bulldogs play Saturday, they will be making college football history.
DAWG is looking for his three gates in a sport that is hard to grasp and has never been seen before in modern college football history.
But UGA is off to a great start to the season.
The DAWGs are at the top of college football, bringing back a lot of talent on both sides of the ball despite having a brand new signal provider behind center.
Let’s break down what we can expect from Georgia this season.
What to Expect from Uga’s Offense Georgia will go as far as new quarterback Carson Beck can reach on the ball side.
Sure, they return with running backs Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards, but all eyes will be on the junior rotation legacy that will always try to convince Georgia fans that it’s Bennett and Carson Beck.
right.
Beck has a wealth of weapons.
Let’s start with Bowers, who is probably the best tight end prospect in college football history, blocking him.
The 2022 Mackey Award winner and All-American can do it all for DAWG.
The Napa, California native caught 119 passes for 1,824 yards and 20 touchdowns over two college seasons.
This is also a phenomenal blocker, often leaving the machine open behind Uga.
But Uga also brings back some big stars at wide receiver, led by redshirt junior Ladd McConkie.
The shady widower returned to Georgia and decided not to enter the NFL Draft for at least one more season.
Crazy LADD was a beast for DAWGs in 2022, catching 58 balls for 762 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Georgia also returns speedster receiver Arian Smith and big-time widower Marcus Rosemy-Jaxent, which should draw a lot of attention.
Transfers Dominique Lovett (Missouri State) and Lara Thomas (Mississippi State University) should also play important roles in the offense.
The Bulldogs will be led by senior Kendall Milton, who will finally receive a starting shot, supported by his senior colleague Daijun Edwards and complete rookie Roderick Robinson II, at the running back position.
Well located.
Two-semester student Branson Robinson suffered a torn patella tendon a few weeks ago and is out for the season.
The offensive line is once again strong, led by center Cedric Van Plann and featuring familiar faces Xavier Truss, Tate Rutledge and Amarius Mims.
A few sleepers to keep an eye on in this UGA offense are slot receiver Dillon Bell (sophomore) and big tight end target Oscar Delp (four-star prospect and second-year straight).
What to expect from the Dawgs defensively This team is really fun.
Over the past two years, he has literally been able to build an entire NFL defense out of his UGA players selected in the NFL Draft, with a next-man-up attitude that is unparalleled in college football’s pursuits.
Equipped with: From a strong front seven to a secondary that can hold the best receivers UGA will face this season, there’s really not one piece this team is lacking.
The Bulldogs are led by linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson and safety Tykie Smith.
Mikel Williams should be a quarterback’s worst nightmare rushing to the edge, and defensive backs Malachi Starks and Kamari Lassiter should play well and get their fair share of turnovers in the secondary.
Quick Special Teams Rating: Georgia lost kicker Jack Podlesny to the NFL and now hands the kicking job to junior Jared Zirkel, who was named All-American 7 when he transferred to UGA.
He was the No.
1 kicker, 247 Sports reported.
Dawgs Schedule Rating In the final year of the Southeastern Conference’s current schedule format before the division was completely eliminated and Texas and Oklahoma joined, UGA went 12-0 with one appearance in the SEC Championship Game.
have a great chance to.
On paper, their toughest opponents are either a game against Tennessee at Neyland Stadium in November or a game against Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels at Hedges a week before November.
Looks like it’s one of the home games.
11.
Auburn is known for giving UGA an edge at times in the flats, but the UGA team is simply better in every way.
Perhaps South Carolina will make some noise in Athens, but that seems like a stretch at this point given the makeup of UGA’s roster.
The complete schedule can be found here.
No matter what happens, Georgia fans should sit back, relax and enjoy watching Kirby Smart’s team win his third consecutive title.
As Smart said in his SEC Media Days press release, he won’t focus on another title unless he’s satisfied with the status quo.
Unless that happens, there is no doubt that the Bulldogs will contend for the title.
When all is said and done, this is where college football history will be made.
