Injury Report Tebaga nears return after long layoff A return date has not yet been set, but Jazz Tevaga’s long-awaited return from a calf injury is getting closer and closer.
The dynamic One New Zealand Warriors centre-forward has not played since Round 8 against the Melbourne Storm on Anzac Day.
It’s been more than nine weeks since bald brothers Tebaga and Dylan Walker wore harnesses.
Walker was also absent on the road, missing games against Brisbane, Dolphins and Canberra with a toe injury, before returning in last Friday night’s 48-18 win over St George Illawarra.
.
Walker is back, but Tebaga is still waiting for the right time, but is making progress.
New Zealand Warriors performance director Balin Couples said the 27-year-old had transitioned to a “match-specific turf running load” and started “integrating the team’s skills to begin with”.
.
There was much to see as well when a smiling Tebaga joined his teammates on the practice field this week.
Standoff Te Mer Martin broke his left fibula in Round 6 against Newcastle on April 9th, and it will be a while before he returns.
He’s in the early stages of running,” Couples said.
Demitrik Sifakulla (knee) has been building up his strength training and is back to rehab running on the field, while Ali Leitaua (hamstring) is “building range and strength and starting early training.
