ARLINGTON – Texas Longhorns receiver Xavier Worthy injured his ankle in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 49-21 win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Big 12 Championship.
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian gave an update on his star receiver during ABC’s postgame on-field interview after the game.
“He’s fine.
The X-rays were negative so he’ll be fine,” Sarkisian told ABC.
Worthy hasn’t missed a game yet this season despite having been mildly ill in recent weeks, but he had to be carried to the locker room by two Texas athletic trainers.

He also returned 21 punts for 358 yards and one touchdown.

If Worthy misses the next game against Texas, the Longhorns will continue to rely on receivers Adonai Mitchell and Jordan Whittington and tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders.
All three had great success in Saturday’s win, helping Quinn Ewers break the Big 12 Championship passing record with 452 yards and four touchdowns.
