Tate will be re-evaluated in “two-to-three weeks,” per Silas and could be out of the lineup for a longer span as the season rolls through December. The third-year forward has played in just three games this season, and Monday will mark his sixth consecutive missed contest after aggravating a nagging ankle injury against Phoenix on Oct. 30.

Tate, 27, quickly earned minutes as a rookie in 2020-21 after signing with the Rockets as an undrafted free agent. He averaged 11.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last season, logging 77 starts in the process. Tate stands among a crowded wing rotation in Houston whenever he returns from injury, a group that includes young building blocks in Tari Eason and K.J. Martin, among others. It’s unclear how significantly Tate will factor into Houston’s rotation whenever he returns to the floor.

The Rockets received some good news on the injury front before Monday’s contest against the Clippers. Silas announced pregame guard Jalen Green will suit up in the contest after previously being listed as questionable due to right shoulder soreness. But Green appears good to go as he looks to build upon a 33-point night against the Pelicans on Saturday.

Houston will look to improve on its NBA-worst 2–11 record Monday night as it hosts the Clippers. Tip-off from the Toyota Center is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
