Football at Penn State: Three guys the Nittany Lions need to focus on in the transfer portal
Penn State football needs to improve their offense, and the transfer portal could help with that.
The Nittany Lions have been attempting to duplicate their 2016 Big Ten championship game victory since Penn State football’s victory. Since winning the conference, Penn State has been a successful program, but they haven’t been able to cross the finish line and reach their desired position. Following the Big Ten title, the team’s new objective was to advance to the College Football Playoff and defeat both Michigan and Ohio State in the same season.Despite their victory over Ohio State, the Buckeyes advanced to the postseason despite the Nittany Lions’ 10-2 regular season record after winning the Big Ten.
What then needs to happen for Penn State football to overcome this setback? Their offensive needs to be strengthened. Their defense proved to be competitive this season against Ohio State and Michigan, but the offense was unable to generate much momentum against those defenses. The Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes 24–15, and the Buckeyes defeated the Nittany Lions 20–12. Penn State scored late touchdowns in both games to give the score a more respectable appearance. Ultimately, the Nittany Lions were unable to generate any offensive momentum.
For Penn State football fans, there’s good news: next year, there will be 12 teams in the playoffs. Penn State would be in the playoffs this year if the system was the same. They still aim to win the league and defeat the top teams in the Big Ten. Even yet, it will be good to have the opportunity to play in the playoffs despite a few mistakes on the record.
Before the upcoming season, Penn State needs to turn things around offensively. Using the transfer portal is one way they can accomplish that. One of the most crucial aspects of playing college football these days is using the internet, and the Nittany Lions can discover some useful offensive tools there to bolster their attack. They can look at one defensive target and two offensive targets that are shown here.
A fascinating wide receiver on the transfer site, Malik Bowen-Sims is moving from Duke to a new residence. He’s a dynamic player who might have an instant effect on this Penn State squad. Guys who can make plays with the ball in their hands are what the Nittany Lions need. That type of player, Bowen-Sims, may improve both the offense and the team.
TE, Gar
Garrett Miller played for Purdue before using the transfer portal, so he is already a member of a Big Ten team. Penn State would be an excellent fit for him if he still wants to stay in the Big Ten. A strong tight end is an integral part of any Big Ten attack. Even though they don’t always receive the same credit as wide receivers and running backs, they are an essential component of the team regardless of the play.
EDGE, Tyler Baron, Tennessee
After this season, Penn State football’s leading pass rusher, Chop Robinson, will go for the NFL. Although it will be difficult to make up for lost time in that area the next season, the Nittany Lions can try to receive some assistance through the transfer portal. Penn State ought to consider Tyler Baron, who is among the top EDGE players accessible through the portal.
