WANDERERS are relieved that scans on Jack Iredale’s knee injury have shown no complications.
The Australian defender left Thursday’s workout early due to knee soreness that he had sustained at the similar point in the previous campaign.
However, Ian Evatt is now certain that the former Cambridge United player won’t miss a substantial amount of football following tests at the hospital.
“Jack sustained a minor ailment in his knee during his training last season,” the boss clarified following Friday’s 2-0 victory against Fleetwood. Thankfully, it was scanned today and turned out to be nothing.
“We need to remove a small amount of swelling from there, but there hasn’t been any re-injury; it was just more of a precautionary measure.”
With a game remaining, Wanderers’ victory at Highbury moved them two points behind leaders Portsmouth and back into the automatic promotion spots.
Considering the terrible wind and rain that pounded the Fylde Coast that evening, Evatt considered the outcome to be among the best his team had produced this season.
For him, football is a mentality issue. “It was all about mindset and mentality tonight.
It was about being the best version of ourselves and not caring about the wind, the pitch, or anything else outside of ourselves.
We should be able to handle any situation because we have excellent players and athletes. Ensuring the players had faith in it was the goal.
“What we observed there is that the players are moving toward adopting the proper mindset to participate in various game genres and embody our identities.”
