Leicester City have completed the signing of Belgian international midfielder Janice Cayman.

On the international stage, Cayman has been capped by Belgium on 137 occasions while she is her nation’s second-highest goalscorer of all time with 48 goals.

After completing her move to Leicester City, Cayman said “It’s been a warm welcome and I’m very happy to be here. It’s a new country to play football for me, but maybe one of the biggest countries to play in.

“It will be a big challenge but it’s very exciting to be in a new league, to meet new teams and to just give it my all.”

Leicester City look set to make their third signing of the transfer window as Manchester City defender Callum Doyle nears a move.

Two players have arrived so far this summer with Harry Winks and Conor Coady both completing their moves from Tottenham and Wolves. The duo became Maresca’s first signings as City manager and number three is en route.

The arrival of Coady from Wolves has already strengthened the defence, and another centre-half is now set to arrive at King Power Stadium as Leicester look to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Here’s everything you need to know about Doyle joining Leicester this summer.

Doyle will have a medical at Leicester City on Wednesday ahead of a season-long loan move, according to The Telegraph’s John Percy.

The 19-year-old will arrive at Seagrave and be put through his paces by the medical team before linking up with his new teammates.

Loan deal conditions

Several outlets have reported that Leicester and Man City have agreed a season-long loan deal for Doyle, which will see him playing in the Championship for a second time after reaching the play-off final with Coventry last term.

It is understood that Leicester will not have an option to buy Doyle as part of the season, so it will only be a straight loan agreement.

City were ‘interested’ in permanent move

The Athletic reported that City were ‘exploring’ a permanent move for the defender this summer. He was said to be valued at £7million to £10million and Leicester were pushing to buy him.

After two loan spells in a row, he is now set for a third. Man City appear to have insisted on a loan move, and Leicester have agreed with a season-long move imminent.

Doyle has spent time on loan in League One with Sunderland and in the Championship with Coventry City last season. He reached the play-offs with both clubs, earning promotion with Sunderland.

Enzo Maresca connection

Doyle and Maresca have previously worked together during the City boss’ time with Man City’s development squad. Maresca was head coach of the young Man City team in the 2020/21 season, leading them to their first Premier League 2 title.

Doyle made 14 appearances under Maresca that season, despite being just 17 years old at the time. He featured 14 times in Premier League 2 as they won the title, and featured twice in the EFL Trophy.
