History is about to be written with Caitlin Clark.

The standout player for the Iowa Hawkeyes is only a few baskets away from taking the record for most points scored in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history.

With 3,520 career points under her belt, Clark is only seven points short of Kelsey Plum’s record. Between 2013 and 2017, the standout of Las Vegas Aces amassed 3,527 points over her four seasons at the University of Washington.

With 32.1 points per game, Clark leads the country in scoring and hasn’t finished a game with fewer than 21 points this year. It’s quite possible that the reigning Naismith Player of the Year will surpass Plum’s mark in Iowa’s upcoming game.

On Thursday, February 15, the Michigan Wolverines (16-9, 7-6) will visit the No. 4 Hawkeyes (22-3, 11-2). In addition to Clark’s quest for history, Iowa will also be trying to get back on track following its only defeat of the year, an 82-79 road loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Sunday.

Iowa was outscored 27–10 in the fourth quarter of their loss to Nebraska, despite Clark’s 31 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals.
